In today’s episode we speak to a not so regular Joe, Katie Hale who in our eyes is extradentary. Kate journalist for one of Australia’s premier television networks shares her story and journey dealing with an auto immune disease Colitis, as well living with Alopecia. 

Katie takes us on a journey when she was a young adult at the age of 19 developing Colitis and how this affected her physically and emotionally which a resulted in  kick-starting her health journey to maintain a balanced diet and healthy life. Alongside dealing with an auto immune disease, Katie also diagnosed with Alopecia which led to her losing all her hair on her body with in as little as a few months of being diagnosed.

Humankind is entering a new demographic era. At the start of the next decade, globally, for every 100 people aged 15-64 years there will be 14.4 people aged 65 years or over. The United Nations projects that this so-called “old-age” dependency ratio will increase dramatically throughout the 21st Century. By 2030, the global ratio is projected to be 18 seniors per 100 “workers”, which is set to increase to 25.2 per 100 and 37.6 per 100 by 2050 and 2100, respectively. The current global population of 7.7 billion is projected to grow to 8.5 billion, 9.7 billion and 10.9 billion by 2030, 2050 and 2100, respectively. The impact of such a rapid shift in the age structure of our global society has enormous implications for how we manage national economies and healthcare systems.

Our bones support us and allow us to move. They protect our brain, heart, and other organs from injury. Our bones also store minerals such as calcium and phosphorous, which help keep our bones strong, and release them into the body when we need them for other uses. So keeping our bones strong and healthy not only prevent fractures but also positively effect our bodies constant action for  homeostasis.

Join us as we look into the research and their recommendations on how to stimulate bone growth for the general population and the osteoporotic.

Initially the self-wort moment was created from a poem Farah wrote called she shines which was love letter to herself and a call to arms. Farah even had a vision to turn the poem into a short film, knowing she could touch and change many lives. After years, her vison came to light with the short film now in pre-production as well as a feature film around multiple stories to be released in 2022.

Self-worth can be stifled by many things; trauma, abandonment, bullying, sickness, grief and so much more. Through Farah’s road to self-validation was not easy. Regaining her self-worth was transformational. It helped her achieve hopes and dreams, and she wants to share this with women and girls around the world and to empower and understand their true worth.

In this  episode we will be focusing on the topic of ‘Breathing and Desk Exercise’ and what you can do to assist your body in a stationary work environment.

In this not so regular Joe episode, Marc shares his journey and experience with an eating disorder and how he dealt with it and has overcome it to get to where he is today.

As an always active and sports driven kid and teenager, Marc reached his heaviest weight of 105kgs at the age of 11. Which his obsession with food and exercise saw him lose weight to reach his lowest weight of 48kg at the age of 14 at a height of 5.11.

Marc takes us on a journey to how his eating disorder was first developed and the steps he took to recover and how he found his “why” and how he is living a more enjoyable and balanced life now.

Through Gillian’s work she has managed to bring conflicting groups of people together through music and sound to express ways of telling their stories, to connect with each other through shared music-making and to explore new sound worlds and modes of expression.
